Scope

Charge the first subscription at a later date.

Summary

There are multiple ways to do this. You can add the charges to unbilled charges and invoice it later or you can use the future subscriptions feature.

Note: Total Unbilled charges for a specific customer
We have updated our summary box to provide a more streamlined and elegant user experience. With this upgrade, hyperlinks have been added to the summary box, allowing users to easily access related information. The Total Unbilled charges on Summary Section is available at the top of the Customer details page which provides a total amount due of a customer and hyperlink that directs to the details. Refer to this link for more details.

Solution

With the auto-collection set as ON, there are two invoicing options:
 - Invoice now - Add to unbilled charges

You could enable Unbilled charges on subscription start, meaning when a subscription gets created and there are charges these are directly added to unbilled charges and when needed you can trigger the collection manually (Subscription > Unbilled charges > Invoice now). This setting can be configured under Settings > Configure Chargebee > Billing LogIQ > Unbilled Charges.

Alternatively, you could configure a Trial period on the Plan level for a fixed number of days, hence the invoice will be generated after the trial ends.

Additionally, you can create a Future subscription, where the invoice will be generated at the specified date when the subscription will become Active. The configuration steps can be found here.
If you wish to create an Active subscription with a future invoice, this is currently not an option we support.  Please raise it as a feature request.
