Will customers receive a notification when their email is updated?
How can customers verify their portal account when their email address is changed?
Who can access the portal at the customer's end?

Summary

In Chargebee, the customer portal account is directly linked to the customer’s email address. Since the login session is created using the email, editing the email address is not an option also only the account user's email address can be used to log in to their account via the Self-Serve portal.

Solution

Why users are not able to change their email addresses from the portal?

The only possible way to change the email address is from Chargebee UI by navigating to Change Customer Details (Classic UI)/Edit Customer Details (Leap UI) from the customer details page.

When you do this, Chargebee will send a link to the new email address to verify the portal account.

Who can access the portal at the customer's end?

When a customer record is created in Chargebee, only the primary email ID associated with the customer record can be used to access the portal. Additional contacts are used only if your customer wants their team or an alternative point of contact to receive emails related to billing such as invoices, payment success notifications, etc.,

When a customer record is created in Chargebee, only the primary email ID associated with the customer record will be able to access the portal. It is not possible to add more than one email address under the customer record.
